With the ever growing use of online and mobile technology, innovative ways of buying and selling goods and services have emerged, bringing people together in new and exciting ways. The peer-to-peer economy, also called the sharing economy or collaborative economy, is the name given to this rapidly developing marketplace.

Through a mixed-method approach, which included a literature review, online discussion forums, an online survey and in-depth interviews, the team at instinct and reason helped NSW Fair Trading understand just how much people know about their rights and responsibilities when using the peer-to-peer economy.
